Best Free Funnel Builders for Beginners in 2026

The short version

If you want the honest, no-hype answer: Systeme.io is the best genuinely free funnel builder for beginners right now. It’s also the only tool in this guide I’ve fully tested hands-on — I actually built a working lead-magnet funnel on its free plan (an opt-in page and a thank-you page), without entering a credit card. Everything else on this page is either still being tested or mentioned as an alternative, and I’ll say so plainly each time.

“Free” in this category is a minefield. Half the tools marketed as “free” are really 14-day trials that lock you out the moment they end. Systeme.io is one of the few with a real free-forever tier, and that’s why it leads this list.

• “Free” with a catch — free to build, but you can’t publish, or every page wears the vendor’s badge, or you can’t connect your own domain.

Most “best free funnel builder” lists blur these together. This one keeps them separate, because the difference decides whether you can actually launch without a credit card.

How I evaluated these (and what that means for trust)

I’m not going to pretend I ran a lab test on a dozen tools. Here’s the honest scope:

• Systeme.io — I created a free account, joined the affiliate program, and built a real lead-magnet funnel: an opt-in page and a thank-you/download page, edited from templates, on the free plan. Everything I say about it below, I saw in my own account.
• MailerLite — I have a trial open and I’ve started building a landing page, but the hands-on review isn’t finished, so I’m only mentioning it as testing in progress.
• WordPress + a free block builder — this is the stack this very site runs on, so I can describe it factually as a DIY route.
• Everything else (ClickFunnels and the rest) — I have not built a funnel on them, so they don’t get a “tested” ranking. ClickFunnels appears only as a paid alternative, clearly labeled as not free.

What it is: an all-in-one funnel and email tool. On one free account you get funnels, landing pages, email sending, a blog, and a simple course/store area — the pieces a beginner needs to launch, without stitching five tools together.

What I actually built on the free plan:

• A funnel that auto-created an opt-in page, a thank-you/download page, and placeholder steps.
• I edited the opt-in page — logo, headline, short description, email field, and a “Send Me the Checklist” button — straight from a template.
• I edited the thank-you page copy (“You’re on the list!”).
• I joined the affiliate program and pulled my affiliate link from the dashboard.

Other free options worth knowing about

I haven’t run a full funnel test on these yet, so they don’t get a ranking — but they’re legitimate free starting points.

MailerLite — testing in progress. Has a free tier and a landing-page builder. I currently have it open and have started building a landing page, but I haven’t finished a full hands-on test, so I’m not going to rank it or claim results yet. Treat it as “one I’m actively testing,” not a recommendation.

WordPress + a free block builder (the DIY route). If you already have WordPress hosting, you can build a perfectly good opt-in page with the free block editor plus a free block plugin (Spectra or GenerateBlocks) and a free form plugin — no funnel-builder subscription. This is literally the stack this site runs on. Trade-off: no built-in “funnel” flow or email automation — you assemble those yourself.

(A few other free tiers — GoHighLevel, Kartra, Leadpages, Carrd, ConvertKit — are on my testing list, but I won’t list or rank them until I’ve actually built something on them.)

Paid / premium alternatives (not free)

ClickFunnels is the name most beginners hear first. It’s capable and well-known, but it’s a paid product — no free-forever plan. I have not built a funnel on it, so I’m not reviewing it here; I’m only flagging it as a paid alternative for after you’ve outgrown a free tool. Until then, if your budget is genuinely $0, start with a real free plan, not ClickFunnels.

Which free builder should you pick?

• Fastest path to a live funnel with no credit card → Systeme.io free plan.
• Mainly an email list with a simple landing page → watch the MailerLite test; for now Systeme.io covers this.
• Already run WordPress and like full control → the DIY block-builder route.
• Expect advanced funnels/automation soon, with a budget → look at paid options (e.g. ClickFunnels) later — you don’t need to start there.
